A look back at CISMA 2025
CISMA 2025 took place from 24 to 27 September at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Organised by the China Sewing Machinery Association, the exhibition brought together equipment suppliers and industry professionals around the development of smarter sewing and production systems. The organiser reported that the event occupied 14 exhibition halls and covered 160,000 square metres.
In its opening remarks, the association highlighted a broad range of developments, including smart sewing, digital solutions and systems incorporating connected technologies. The scope extended beyond apparel to applications in home furnishings and other manufacturing sectors. For buyers reviewing equipment today, these themes provide a useful starting point for discussing how automation could fit an actual production process.
Start with the operation, then compare the machine
Our practical takeaway is to define the sewing task before comparing features. Share the material, seam construction, component dimensions and expected order mix with the supplier. Request a sample trial that reflects the work your operators will perform, and review both the finished seam and the steps needed to produce it.
When considering a programmable or template sewing machine, ask about pattern preparation, fixture changes, operator training and routine maintenance. Compare setup time as well as sewing time. For repeat orders, discuss how the same settings and sample acceptance criteria will be maintained between batches.
Service planning also belongs in the comparison. Confirm spare-parts availability, technical support arrangements, the agreed machine configuration and delivery expectations before ordering. A useful equipment proposal should connect its functions to your production requirements and explain what information or testing is still needed.
