SAFE has added five industrial overlock machine profiles to the Millionindustry online catalogue: SF-K7-4D, SF-720D, SF-700D, SF-747D-3 and SF-747D-5. The additions complete the 13 model entries in the overlock section of the current SAFE v06 catalogue.
For garment factories and equipment distributors, the useful starting point is the required seam. Thread count, needle spacing, edge width and automatic handling functions answer different questions. Comparing them separately helps turn a general request for an industrial overlocker into a clear machine enquiry.
Three, four or five threads: specify the seam first
The SF-747D family has separate specification rows for its three configurations. The SF-747D-3 three-thread overlock machine uses one needle and has a 7,000 rpm catalogue maximum. The existing SF-747D-4 four-thread model uses two needles with a 2 mm needle gauge. The SF-747D-5 five-thread overlock machine uses two needles with a 3 mm needle gauge. Both the four- and five-thread versions are rated at 6,500 rpm.
| Model | Needles / threads | Needle gauge | Maximum speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| SF-747D-3 | 1 / 3 | Single needle | 7,000 rpm |
| SF-747D-4 | 2 / 4 | 2 mm | 6,500 rpm |
| SF-747D-5 | 2 / 5 | 3 mm | 6,500 rpm |
All three rows list a 4 mm overedge width, 0.5–3.8 mm stitch-length range, 0.7–2 differential ratio and 5.5 mm presser-foot lift. Needle gauge and overedge width are separate measurements. Send a seam sample instead of choosing only by the highest speed rating.

Direct drive and automatic trimming are different choices
The SF-720D direct-drive overlock machine and SF-700D four-thread direct-drive machine both have a 6,000 rpm catalogue maximum. The SF-700D is specified as two needles and four threads. Their individual pages show the listed seam dimensions, weight and packing size.
Direct drive describes the motor arrangement. It should not be read as a promise of automatic thread trimming or automatic presser-foot lifting. Where those functions are important, the SF-K7-4D automatic thread-trimming overlock machine explicitly lists both in its catalogue heading.

Review differential feed with the actual material
The five newly added profiles all list a differential feed ratio of 0.7–2. The setting needs to be considered with the fabric behaviour, layer combination and finished seam requirement. A catalogue range helps compare machines; it does not replace checking the actual sewing result on a sample.
Prepare a useful overlock machine enquiry
- Identify the required thread count and provide a clear seam photo or sample.
- Describe the material, stretch, layers and any thick cross-seams.
- Specify overedge width, stitch length and needle spacing where relevant.
- State whether automatic trimming and automatic foot lifting are required.
- Include quantity, electrical supply, delivery destination and table or stand requirements.
